Overview
Rising dramatically out of the sandstone plains near Nani Aral village, Dhinodhar Hills is one of Kutch's most striking geological and spiritual landmarks. Reaching an elevation of 386 meters (1,266 feet), this extinct volcanic plug was formed during the Deccan Traps volcanic era millions of years ago. At the summit stands the revered shrine of Saint Dhoramnath, founder of the Kanphata (slit-eared) Nath yogi order, who according to legend stood on his head atop the peak for 12 years in intense penance. Today, it attracts trekkers, pilgrims, and nature enthusiasts seeking panoramic views of Kutch.
